The Cheyenne
Once Cheyenne a said “when you lose the rhythm of the drumbeat of spirit, you are lost from the peace and rhythm of life.
The Cheyenne tribe once lived in North America. One who studies about the Cheyenne will learn about where they lived,how they met their basic needs, and their beliefs and culture.
The Cheyenne lived in Montana, Oklahoma, and other parts of the United States of America. The land was flat with no forests.
Their main water sources were the Great Lakes. The Cheyenne was a great tribe, but due to the war, most of them died or got sold as slaves.
The Cheyenne’s homes were called tepees. They were made from wood and buffalo hide. The tepees were cone shaped and pointed.
The Cheyenne ate fish,buffalo and other types of foods. The clothing was made out of buffalo, died porcupine quills, and bird feathers. Women wore dresses and the men wore feathers shorts.
The Cheyenne believed in the Creator.The Creator made white people,red people, and hair people. The Creator then gave the red people corn to grow and buffalo to hunt. Women carried their babies on their back which was called cradle boarding. Medicine men treated the sick,with herbs and other medicines.
The Cheyenne were in amazing tribe. They were very religious, at the end of every meal they would do a religious dance. These dance was a big part of their culture and the dance represents the beauty of the tribe .
